Welcome to the Mobile Multimedia Systems Group

In the last decade, we have seen fascinating technical advances in algorithms for processing large amount of data and, as a result, providing better user experience. However, there is still a lot of work to be done for implementing those high-end algorithms on small mobile platforms such as cell phone. Due to their innate highly constrained power budget, we need to take different approaches to maximize overall energy efficiency of the system. We aim to build next-generation multimedia mobile systems in this context.

Our research areas range from hardware-oriented signal processing algorithms to System-on-Chip (SoC) architectures and low-power analog/digital integrated circuits. And ultimately we plan to build a complete system by incorporating our knowledges in those fields. Application areas of interest include

  • Security systems for Internet-of-Things (IoT)
  • Advanced driver assistance systems (ADAS)
  • Image or audio processing
  • Deep learning and neuromorphic computing
  • Body wearable or implantable biomedical systems

Currently we are looking for talented students who would like to work with us on designing state-of-the-art mobile systems. Candidates with experience or interest in one or more of the following areas will be considered seriously.

  • Digital signal processing
  • Machine learning algorithms
  • Analog/digital integrated circuits
  • Hardware implementation on FPGA platforms
